What is Intarsia Knitting and Why is it Superior?

With people twittering about #knitting, I decided that some definitions were in order, especially with respect to "intarsia" knitting. Intarsia knitting is what makes Sweater Art distinctive. And no we do not do argyles!

You can go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intarsia_(knitting) and learn about the process. What is not described is why this process is a superior form of knitting.

There are really three reasons:
1. The finished sweater is lighter in weight.
2. There is no "carried" yarn color to show through to the front.
3. The pattern can be smaller and more detailed.
So if you are looking for hard to find intarsia knit cashmere sweaters or alpaca intarsias, you can find them at Sweater Art.
